About/Bio
🤍
Vivian Dao is a Vietnamese-Canadian, Australia-raised triple threat with years of acting study, known for her vibrant energy and dynamic performances in singing, dancing, and acting.
Theatrically, Vivian made her mark as the lead in 'The Turquoise Elephant', written by multi-award winning, Stephen Carleton. Furthermore, she was selected as one of top 3 Australian vocal finalists to compete for a coveted spot at the KPOP World Festival in Korea. Dedicated to her dance training, Vivian is skilled in street jazz/commercial hip hop. She also specializes in KPOP styles - performing at national competitions and shows as a soloist and as a member of the multi-award winning DB Dance Crew. Vivian was also cast and appeared on Channel 10's "Toasted TV".
🤍Vivian's zest for life is infectious. Working as an experienced music teacher, an academic tutor, and an AHPRA registered general dentist, she never hesitates to leap into new challenges and experiences.
Vivian Dao has a Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) at the University of Queensland and also studied acting at the NIDA Screen Actors Studio during the last years of her degree. Since moving interstate, she graduated from the Screenwise Showreel Course and jumps between Sydney and Canberra for training and work. Nowadays, she attends workshops and trains privately with acting coaches to further hone her skills.
🤍Musically, Vivian is avidly training her voice in mastering the IVA (Institute of Vocal Advancement) technique and is open to participating in more interstates performances and competitions. She enjoyed meeting the other talented vocalists who were also selected as finalists for the KPOP World Festival. Her predominant training styles are Ppop-RnB and KPOP. Vivian grew up speaking Vietnamese, French, and English at home which helps her sing in multiple different languages.
🤍As a child, Vivian danced classical ballet for nearly 10 years and took great inspiration from KPOP. After training as a core member DB Dance Crew, she took 1st place at the BrisAsia Summer Party KPOP Dance crew competition and travelled interstate as a finalist for the KPOP Changwon World Festival dance category. She decided to diversify her skillsets and developed in her strongest styles of street jazz and commercial hiphop choreography. Her biggest inspiration is Daniel Chen (Brent Street Faculty), who's style of choreography best illustrates Vivian's strengths.
Vivian hopes to authentically express the nuances of her life and cultural experiences through her artistic endeavours. She strongly believes in fighting against societal stereotypes on what people can and cannot dream to become. In her eyes, we are all capable of great things with the right discipline and attitude.
